Landscape dining @ Ferringhi Garden

Batu Ferringhi adds to the many attractions in the Pearl of the Orient; with its location beside the sea and the magnificent view towering the ocean from the winding roads along this famous side of the island.
Adding to the lustrous wonders of the Pearl island is the availability of restaurants for that gastronomical fix while enjoying the tour of the island, and what better way to remind yourself of the beauty of the island than to dine in an equally conducive place as well?

Ferringhi Garden provides the answer to all the above; with its lush backdrop set in a close-to-nature like setting and its close location to the sea.

This restaurant could be easily passed off as a private park if you drive past as it is just so green from the outside!

In fact, the natural and lovely landscapes just kept my camera busy while waiting for the food and you could easily forget about the food (like me) and thought you were on a nature day trip! LOL!

Inside, it is just like any normal western restaurant; with the conducive and romantic lighting perfect for dining.

Of course, most of the tables are located outside, as I am sure, with a background like this, for once, no customer would complain of having to go without the A/C during their dining time.

I came here for a simple meal; and I didn't really try a lot on their menu.

(There was another trip I made here with my bosses, but I didn't have the opportunity to take photos of the food due to the chatty environment then)

There is a vase with these beautiful flowers placed on every table; oh, so lovely!

Garlic bread was served while waiting for the main course.

Their bread was pretty good; lightly toasted and it was served with such light yet aromatic smell of the garlic spread and it just tastes good when you bite into the crisp crust of the bread.

One of the starters/appetizers which I tried was this Prawn Cocktail Salad (RM20+ I think)

I was shocked when they served this as I was expecting it to come in a cup; like most cocktails do.
The size of the plate almost duped me into believing that this was my main, and I thought they must have gotten my order wrong somehow.

Taste wise, this was just on the average, as there were not a lot of prawns and I think the price was a little too steep for salads like these.
I have tasted better prawn cocktails elsewhere.

Main course was this Grilled Black Cod (RM40+)
(My apologies for not being able to recall most of the prices)

This was yet another disappointment as I found the cod not sauteed to consistency as you could taste certain parts were rather bland while certain areas were just, over-grilled.

Furthermore, I found that there were too much oil in this grilled dish which was really not appropriate as the cod itself is already an oily fish and I think oil should be sparing when preparing the fish to maintain the freshness and natural taste of the air-flown fish.
(I am a big fan, and a lover of the black cod which is a premium breed of the cod, with its delicate texture and exquisite taste and my best experience to date is the memorable black cod done to perfection in Ferringhi Grill)

Needless to say, I was not really keen for desserts and the total bill came up to about RM80 for a simple meal like this.
Of course, the environment was good, and somehow, I feel that it was the environment which played a role in the prices.

Was it me, or are all places with beautiful settings tend to sway a little in their food quality?

It must be the effects of the nature

Environment wise, I maintain my stand that this is truly one of the most captivating places I have been to and hopefully, there will be improvement in the quality on my next visit as it would be a shame to be in an environment like this and not being able to enjoy my food there
