Thai Food - Siriwan

Decided to try out some Thai food after watching Beautiful Cooking on Sunday...hehe, thought of steamed fish in tom yam soup...hehe
DearDear was pretty firm not to allow me Thai food...soury stuffs since I just had gastric...but well,I am more hard-headed:p
So we ended up at this Siriwan Thai Seafood restaurant....along the Kelawei Road area...

My Honey Sea Coconut drink...RM3.50
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Regretted this; not nice...the sea coconut was sweetened too much and then dipped in the water...not well-blended...a mixture of too sweet and bland water taste:(

Our food arrived; they served us in bowls; scooped for us our first serving of tom yam soup...heheh:)

Nice....not oily and really tom-yummy:)

My fave seafood of all time...Seafood Tomyam....

Lots of seafood....fish fillets, prawns, squids...ooo..and oyster mushrooms...haha, that is not seafood yea:p

As usual, a fish for me...thanks DearDear!!
Steamed Fish in Tom Yam style....yummy!!!

Siakap fish...typically not so smooth in texture as cod fish or dory or garoupa; but somehow, this was steamed at the right timing and was just nice! The Fish was also fresh:)

However, it was RM30; pricey....

Total bill was about RM61....hmmm, actually it was more of the fish.
Overall, prices were reasonable and the food was not bad; not oily...just the way I like it:D

Sugar Dynasty

After our movie, DearDear brought me to Nagore Road for a high-tea...haha...nolar, just some desserts on that hot day:)
We have seen this place a couple of times and I was particularly taken by the name of the place...Sugar Dynasty...in Chinese,it's Tang Zhau...dubious sound of either Tang Dynasty or Sugar Dynasty:) (Of course, the word will reveal which it is)

In fact, even one of my colleagues recommended this place which was famous for their creative Tong Yuen soups:D (Should bring Mum here one day:)

Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
I thought it is for himself....mana tau, he insisted I drink it...saying it's good for ladies...haha:D
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Not too sweet and a very pleasant scent of ginseng:) Just like Mum's...and there's tiny slices of ginseng....Yumzzzz......

This is mine....Ice Blended Strawberry with Lemon..Rm2.80
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
The lady claimed it was fresh strawberries...I don't think so...too sweet
Then DearDear mentioned they could be preserved strawberries....ughs!

DearDear wanted to try out their Tong Yuen and ordered this; the one with Chrysanthemum soup....
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
He ordered the one without filling..just plain rice balls
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
DearDear said it was not bad; pleasant taste and scent...not sickening at all:)
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
I didn't try out the Tong Yuen...No.1, I don't really like Tong Yuen...
No.2, I can't take them anyway without causing gastric each time...so I stay away from Glutinous stuffs:p

Pastasia

I have walked past this cafe more than a dozen of times in both Queensbay Mall and Gurney Plaza but have never tried it out.
Last Sunday, we finally decided to give it a try when I was again in Gurney Plaza for a movie...Rush Hour3:D
Furthermore, there was a promotion for Citibank Card Holders...Buy 1 Get 1 Free pasta....hehe....but must be either same or lower-priced than the first item lar:)

Their lunch promotion....not applicable to the Buy 1 Free 1...so I had to drop the idea of their grilled fish with special sauce:p

They serve a variety of pasta and even pizzas and the creative part was that theirs was a fusion type of food; blending Euro Italian with an Asian twist...

The waitress was friendly and really funny; she giggled so hard when DearDear flashed his Citibank cards and asked which one should be used...haha:D
Naughty DearDear...

And mine...Sky Juice...RM0 :D

DearDear's Seafood Fettucine in Tom Yam....RM21.95
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
As mentioned, they added that Asian taste to normal pasta....that's why it was Pastasia...(Pasta Asia)
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
DearDear liked it...and fed me with the fish fillets, prawns and squids...hehe...
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
He gobbled his favourite shell items like mussels and clams:p

Mine is here too...
Can't remember the full name; think it was Sauteed Dory Fish in Tom Yam sauce...
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Somehow the tomyam sauce tasted like curry...too creamy...
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Suspected there were milk:(

DearDear banned me from continuing but I took a small amount anyway...
My stomach couldn't take it well and was feeling sick after:(

Shinjutei Pulau Tikus

I heard of this Japanese restaurant from my jee mui who was a Makan Queen and she was telling me the other day in Sakae that this is another good Japanese restaurant worth a try and that the prices here were fairly reasonable.
I told DearDear about it and he also quipped in that he heard from his friends as well.
So we decided to give it a try...(what's with me and Jap food these days:p)
It's along Cantonment Road; pretty overshadowed by the Vegetarian Restaurant next to it...

Very oily.....so-so only...not very nice....

The prawn dumplings...or Ebi Gyoza...RM10
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Also very the oily...and the fillings were too little...tasted more flour than prawns as DearDear quoted:p
