Lunch @ Sushi King, Sunway Pyramid

Good ol' Sushi King started out as one of the prime Japanese fast food (sushi) chain here in Malaysia and I still remember their popularity.
Over the years, Sushi King has to stand against some very tough competition with the birth of new Japanese outlets such as Sushi Groove, Sakae Sushi, etc.

Even I myself personally prefer Sakae Sushi due to the variety and also the pricing which was reasonable and of course, the important factor: the quality and taste of the food.

So what happens when a Sushi King fan vs Sakae Sushi meet for lunch?
A toss of the coin to decide?
Haha...not really, we just proceeded to Sushi King for a walk down memory lane (as I was also not really in the mood for Sakae)

I love Sake Teriyaki (salmon fillet cooked in teriyaki sauce) and it is a must-order for me whenever I patronize any Japanese outlet.

It is also one of the main things that I like and prefer to eat anyway.
I found this version in Sushi King lacking in the sauce to compliment the fish fillet; needless to say, I was rather disappointed.

The black pepper dory fillet cooked in teppanyaki was a rather filling and value for money lunch set.

It was served with rice and also side vegetables, along with a cup of chawanmushi, miso soup and a Yakult yoghurt drink.

A really healthy option for lunch; don't you think so?

The difference found between the original chawanmushi (ala carte order) and the chawanmushi served in the set; was the lack of mushroom slice on top of the custard.

When you are in Sushi King, it wouldn't do much justice if you do not order their sushi

The outlet was rather quiet despite it being lunch hour; or perhaps it was on a weekday?

House of Pancakes

Yet another House of Pancakes found in Sunway Pyramid; in the old wing which offers a fusion of Filipino cuisine and pancakes.
The House of Pancakes originated from the Philippines and was tastefully decorated in a tangerine theme and emanating a sense of bright orangey feel which says "Welcome"

The Filipino style of ABC ~ Halo Halo (Shaved ice with milk, jelly and fruits)

It tasted rather sweet and overall on the average side; not really as interesting as it sounds.

This is the small serving; RM4.50

Of course, walking into a house of pancakes without ordering pancake will not do them justice.
They offer a short list of common pancakes; ranging from plain to fruity pancakes (or so it sounds).
The peach pancake - small serving for Rm10.90

As indicated, only the name makes it sound peachy but in fact, it is just a plain pancake with 4 slices of peach and whipped cream on top of it; served with honey.

I find it really intriguing that they named this Peach pancake when there is nothing special except putting the fruits on top of it.
I think they need to refurbish their menu; for instance: Pancakes served with Options (A-Z)
SIGHS!

One of the mains; Salmon Fillet

Thinking it was just served in western style, I was really surprised when it came with an extra serving of rice and the salmon fillet was just a side serving.
For RM16, I don't think this is worth it:(
Furthermore, the salmon fillet somehow tasted weird in the mouth.

When the waitress came over to collect the plates and handed the bill, she courteously asked me about my opinion of the food.
I was ..."ERMMMMM....."

*Think this is just not my cup of tea....shall stick with Paddington House of Pancakes*
