Chicken, Seafood and Pasta @ Tony Roma's, The Gardens

Ribs, Seafood and Steak sums up the the signature specialties of Tony Roma's, one of the popular casual dining American chain which has found their way into our shores for a few years and have since expanded to outlets around the nation.

Famous for their baby rack ribs in their home country, Tony Roma's here, with adherence and respect to the local culture, is a halal (or known as kosher in other parts of the world) and therefore, it is a pork-free restaurant and the commonly favored pork ribs are substituted with beef ribs instead.
Yet the restaurant remains popular among the food-loving local Malaysians, and they are ready to accept anything new with open arms and mind, though halal food is not uncommon in the country.
It is no doubt Tony Roma's has also gained their place in the hearts of Malaysians, who are after all, ardent fans of food, a fact evidently backed by the endless eateries found in almost corner of the country.

It is definitely not my first visit to this chain restaurant, though I fail to recall the last time I was in any of their outlets for a meal which is definitely a sign of the long gap in time since my last visit.
They may be known for their ribs, but that is not the only specialty they have here as they proudly boast of an extensive selection under the seafood section, a fact which is just right for the seafood loving me.

I must say it is a good place for friends to gather, families to spend quality time together and of course, for celebrations too.

Tropical Smoothie is an eclectic yet enticing mix of orange juice, banana and kiwi blended with ice cream to give it that creamy froth of a taste, leaving behind a light hint of citrusy scent and aftertaste.
The fresh fruits and whipped cream topping polished this drink off nicely, enhancing the zesty taste of the drink.

Like most American casual dining, there is always a range of appetizers to select from for one to brush up the palates to be ready for the mains, and Tony Roma's very own trio combination of Red Hot Buffalo Wings, Potato Skins and their signature Onion Loaf (Half) form the Roma's Sampler.
It is probably one of the more popular choices too, where one need not sweat on which appetizer to have as there is a variety of three to save you that time in making the choice.

P1370882_Fotor

The accompanying dressing works perfectly well to complement the trio combination respectively; from the Bleu cheese dressing for the buffalo wings, sour cream for the potato skins and the TR's original BBQ sauce which TRfor the Onion Loaf.

The signature Onion Loaf is indeed a delightful and unique specialty, though slightly oily, but the compensating taste of the thickly sliced onion wrapped with the well-battered flour forming the outer skin, and spiraling like the twist of a bun is more than enough to capture one's interest.
Peel away at the layers, dip it into the bbq sauce and be ready for an interesting taste journey!

A fan of greens will never settle without any form of salad, and while there is a list of salads to choose from, Caesar Salad is definitely a conventional yet comforting one to have to nibble at while waiting for the mains to arrive.

P1370887_Fotor

Crunchy Romaine lettuce leaves tossed in with the classic dressing topped with croutons and Asiago cheese. To make it even more appetizing, throw in the addition of salmon.
Well, technically, I was expecting smoked salmon slices but it was grilled salmon steak fillet which appeared to accompany salad, making this salad worth every cent.

Chicken Alfredo Florentine
Grilled chicken breast, sun-dried tomatoes and fresh spinach tossed in a lemon alfredo sauce and served over linguine. Topped with shaved Asiago cheese and fresh chopped parsley.

P1370892_Fotor

Shrimp and Salmon Piccata is a lovely combination, mixing both of my favorites; a well grilled portion of salmon steak with juicy shrimps sitting on top of the fillet drizzled with lemon caper sauce, along with sides of rice and fresh broccoli.
It makes it easier for me to have the best of both worlds, for those who simply cannot decide (like yours truly) and be satisfied by the appetizing combo to fulfill that seafood craving.
P1370895_Fotor

One definitely cannot go wrong with both salmon or fish, with shrimps, I say, that's for sure.

We are definitely obsessed with salmon, as another plateful of salmon appeared on the table.
For an interesting and flavorful twist to the grilled taste of salmon fillet, the Avocado and Mandarin Orange Salmon is the answer to living it up a little.

P1370897_Fotor

The colorful sight and mash of the exciting tastes of mandarin oranges and cut avocados, enhanced with the extra zest of grape juice to dress up the avocados just please the taste buds, besides the visual attraction of the blend. Throw in the freshly cut tomatoes, red onions and cilantro, and I'm sold!

Oh yes, not just salmon, we are also big on shrimps, obvious with this Shrimp Scampi Pasta which tosses fresh juicy shrimps, lightly sauteed with garlic, fresh basil and tomato pesto beforehand.
If you sensed something else in the mix, that is probably that light bit of chipotle in there to add to the  satisfying mass of linguine.
Shaved Asiago cheese (TR is big on this cheese eh?) completes this for the pasta lovers.

A Birthday treat for the celebrant accompanied by the lovely singing of the servers, makes this lava molten cake topped with ice cream a memorable one for my daddy!

P1370903_Fotor

The food, service and ambiance in this Tony Roma's outlet in The Gardens makes this a winning combination to court more patrons to their outlet, besides the obvious strategic location along the connecting passageway between Mid Valley mall and The Gardens.

Besides who need more reason to enjoy a good meal to treat oneself, or even to go for the special occasion with family and friends?
Or do we even need the reason of a special occasion to enjoy Tony Roma's?

Fun with Japanese Buffet Ala Carte Style at Mitasu

Japanese food lovers would rejoice with the attractive offer of enjoying a wide variety of Japanese food from the simple menu at an affordable price; topped with the liberty of being able to order continuously and limitlessly and eat to your heart's content.

P1360885_Fotor

It sounds like it's too good to be true, doesn't it?
Well, believe it because it is good and it is true, and it is offered by this Japanese restaurant, nestled in its modest abode in Central Plaza in the heart of downtown KL.

P1360881_Fotor

Mitasu may not be situated in a attention-seeking location right in the busy city, but the name of this Japanese restaurant rose to fame with the popularity of its ala carte style buffet, with a pocket-pleasing price tag; making it a place for families and friends to enjoy a good and hearty Japanese selection over lively banters.

P1360883_Fotor

Coming in a big group; be it family or friends can be an advantage as one can opt for more varieties from the menu without wasting food aimlessly for the sake of just tasting the food, or trying every single item on the menu. (It is rather despicable to do that, in my humble opinion).

The menu comes in a fairly simple one sheet with both printed sides, listing basic and unpretentious common varieties of the much-loved cuisine.
From raw cuts of sashimi to hand rolled temaki and sushi, to pan fried vegetables and teppanyaki, there is almost something to represent every section of the Japanese cuisine and to fit the taste buds of every age.

Start off with hot green tea, or even enjoy the variety of chilled beverages such as fruit punch or jasmine green tea to accompany and keep yourself hydrated throughout the meal.

Every Japanese lover's must-have is definitely the raw slices of air-flown sashimi.
While I am not entirely sure if this is really air-flown, these are still must-haves; a combo of Akami (Tuna), Salmon, and Abura Bazu (Butterfish) - the three most popular and usual culprits which are on most tables and menus of a Japanese restaurant.

Now, did I manage to attract your attention with the interesting and fulfilling ala carte Japanese buffet variety?
If that is not tempting enough, think of the endless times you could order from your favorites and also the prompt service and conducive environment in the restaurant.

Of course, the most important question:

As the place is fairly popular and tends to swarm with crowds, it is advisable to make reservations to avoid disappointments.

Definitely another option to add to Japanese food enthusiasts who just want endless fills of their favorite cuisine, over great conversations and environment.

Mitasu's Ala Carte Japanese Buffet has crept into everyone's heart, with an unpretentious menu and enjoyable ambiance, perfect to fulfill that Japanese craving in everyone!~ :-)

Sweet Lil' Breakfast at Tedboy Bakery, Bangsar

I am not a regular brunch person; reason being I am always an early bird and I always start off the day with breakfast at the start of the day which is pretty much in the rising hours of the sun.
I take my meals according to the old-fashioned way where breakfast precedes the day followed by lunch, and that is the reason the concept of brunch did not seem to fit in, in any way with my personal lifestyle.

Typically when it comes to breakfasts, I have my regular favorites; particularly on weekends and it always, well, almost always, comes back to dim sum on the weekends. This round, for a change, I thought of trying out something else and there is just this place I have been wanting to check out personally for quite sometime.

P1360865_Fotor

Tedboy Bakery, located in the busy and hip neighborhood of Bangsar; along Jalan Telawi 4, is this much-talked about bakery and having heard of this place, I was keen to try and just enjoy something different for my first meal of the day fora change.
It was not hard to find this bakery cafe; facing the side of Bangsar Village Shopping Center, and the design of the cafe was kept to a simple minimalistic concept, though with that studio-inspired design in their interior.

The front of the cafe is the very heart of their business; which is the bakery while the tables and chairs are located at the back of the shop where patrons can just make themselves cosy while deciding on their options from the menu.

P1360864_Fotor

P1360823_Fotor

P1360819_Fotor

P1360860_Fotor

The O.J (Freshly squeezed plain Orange Juice - three oranges in total) (MYR7.90) was my choice to sweeten up the day. The juice was not overly sweet, and to my liking, with that hint of slight bitterness that you get from fresh orange juice in the aftertaste and I was quite amused with the adorable bottle they served the juice in.
P1360836_Fotor

I also liked that little extra thought they put in to serve with a glass with ice cubes and a straw, for one to slowly enjoy the juice in a more, let's just say, ladylike manner rather than gulping the juice in a rush and lose track of the bittersweet taste of the fruit juice.

P1360837_Fotor

Green Tea Latte Ice (MYR10.90) is a sweet blend of green tea espresso with milk; and was quite a good combination though it was tad a little too sweet for my liking. The strong taste of the green tea is testament that the drink was not diluted in any way.
P1360844_Fotor

P1360839_Fotor

Carrot Cake (MYR6.90) is boasted to contain more carrots than anything else in their menu, and with such a description, I was pleased to find that they could keep that to their record.
This slice of cake is not to be simply underestimated for its size tells nothing of the condensed and well-compressed amount of carrot slices packed in its every bite. If you are a fan of walnut, you will be delighted with the pea-sized walnuts found in the cake too. It was quite a firm cake, layered with the light cheese in between and decorated with a cute little icing in the shape of a carrot atop the cake to indicate that this is their carrot cake.

P1360834_Fotor

P1360832_Fotor

Salmon Mix Green (MYR17.90) is a satisfying toss of fresh greens varying from lettuce, cabbage, cherry tomatoes laced with generous slices of slightly smoked salmon (the way I like it) then lightly drizzled with a sweet honey dressing. The sweet dressing could be minimized in its amount although the naturally salty taste of the salmon slices countered that in a graceful manner.
I simply could not get enough of this salad, and I must say this is by far, one of my personal favorite salad with them smoked salmon.

P1360850_Fotor

P1360846_Fotor

Chicken Wrap (MYR12.90)
The winner here is the soft and freshly made crepe wrap with that light hint of eggs complementing the chicken slices and ham inside, served with a serving of fresh garden salad on the side.

P1360851_Fotor

P1360856_Fotor

A simple but gratifying way to kick start the way and after my experience here, I can see why they made their way to the hearts of their fans.

I can see definitely see myself coming back again soon....
