A Wedding in Alor Setar

The year-end in 2007 has been a busy period for everyone with the endless wedding invitations (I am sure it is the same for everyone).
I had attended more than 5 weddings in the 4th quarter and those that I couldn't attend, conflicted with the ones I attend.
But, have you actually received the invitation from 2 friends in the same circle who will be getting married on the same day?
Okay, if that is not tricky enough, how about, same state, same location, same restaurant, same time and the only difference; one is holding the banquet upstairs and the other downstairs? (Take note, they are to wed different spouses)
Gotcha, didn't it?

It was a tough decision for us as well; and we split half the gang to attend the lady's wedding downstairs and the rest of us went for our guy friend's wedding upstairs:)

The wedding was held in this Chinese Community Hall in Alor Setar; and we arrived earlier in the afternoon and took a quick tour around the town (Alor Star tower and even tried a very good tomyam recommended by our friend who drove us there:)

From top to right; fried dumplings, fried fish fillets with sour sauce, BBQ Chicken, asparagus with shrimps and belacan and in the middle, was a cold dish where it was vegetables with sour sauce.

Next, a very unique version of Shark's Fin as it was cooked with bean curd and mushroom besides the conventional crab meat and shark's fin.

It had a very strong herbal scent:p

Next was the Curry Chicken with mini buns

The wedding dinners in Malaysia always look so delicious, especially in the non-capital states. When we were home last year, my parents were invited to a wedding in Kepong(KL)and I decided to invite myself, unfortunately the food was to be vegetarian so in the end I did not go. My favourite would be the kampung weddings because the food would be more tasty especially my favourite "khao yuk".
