A Wedding Dinner in JB

Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing
Finally, I am posting the pics of the wedding dinner which I've attended in Johor Bahru - not to mention the horrifying experience which I've posted in my other blog

It was truly a great gathering, as I have met up with all of my good friends (some of them have gone on separate paths of career choice)
To cut the long story short, a glimpse into the nice spread of food served during the wedding dinner of this wonderful friend of mine

A little token of appreciation from the bride and groom for all their guests

(I think my friend personally made these little notes for all)

A bite courtesy from the restaurant

The first dish served was the Five Happiness

A tantalizing dish with a tasty variety

The base of the dish was actually made of jelly!

2nd Dish: The braised shark's fin soup with crab meat
Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing

3rd Dish: Steamed chicken
Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing
It may seem a little weird that they serve chicken in this style for a wedding?
According to all the guests, this was actually very well done - everyone enjoyed this delightful dish

4th Dish: Steamed pomfret
Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing
Wow, I rarely see this fish in such a big size and the first thing that came to my mind:
'Hmmm...so big, may not be too good'

Boy, was I wrong!
The fish was really fresh and the flesh was steamed to perfection - it was really tender and succulent

5th Dish: Double flavored prawns (Sweet and sour)
Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing
Yet another wonderful bite; and the best part, it was already peeled for our consumption.
(and to think my friend requested for a set of cutlery for this purpose~:)

6th Dish: The vegetable dish - Choice of asparagus stir-fried with scallops in spicy shrimp paste
Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing
Scallops and asparagus....need I say more whether it's good?
Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing
A nice little deco on the plate

7th dish: For some carbs, this is the lotus leaf rice
Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing

The last but not the least important dish, this proved to be the true winner of the night!
A combination of hot and cold cakes - the ones in white are wafer coating the frozen strawberries while the brownish ones on the lower front were the fried pastries
Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing

These delightful bites were served with a bowl of sweet red bean soup cooked with lotus seeds and sago
Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing

This was truly one of the most unique desserts I have tried at a wedding dinner!

Congratulations to my beautiful friend and her husband and this is a toast to their happy-ever-after wedding!

Coconut Jelly

Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing
The weather recently has been crazy; it shines and then it rains and then it becomes so unbearably humid.
No wonder it is a breeding season for all those viruses and dengue/'chi-ku-nya' fevers, etc.

Even yourself truly has recently recovered from the horrendous virus of sore throat, fever, nausea, flu and cough...UGH!
I am still shuddering whenever I go near those people who are currently coughing like a hatter on the road.

Anyway, for something soothing and cooling (in case you happen to feel a case of dry throat), you might want to try out some coconut drinks or for a new little flavour - the coconut jelly.
Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing

It is sold at one of the shops along Jalan Datuk Keramat and costs RM3.70 per coconut.
Pretty pricey in my opinion; but I only see this here though.
The first time I tried it was in Jitra (Kedah) and it was an enticing taste which I remembered despite my intolerance for coconut-based products.
This was a little diluted but still refreshing to the throat.

They made the jelly rather gel-o-like and you feel hooked on for a few more spoonfuls after the first few tastes.

What better way to enjoy the hot afternoon, keeping yourself hydrated and enjoying it with a little taste?

A Little Christmassy meal @ Kim Gary

Queensbay Mall is the recent branch home to the chain Hongkie cafe; Kim Gary.
This became the hot spot for most Industrial Zone folks' haunt and also our pre-Christmas gathering!

It was pretty crowded; could be the popularity or the fact that it was the latest eatery spot in the Pearl's most happening mall.
We had to wait pretty long before our food arrived and the first which came was not even our order, although I must say that it was pretty enticing~

The Christmas set meal by Kim Gary; which costs about RM29.90 as stated in the menu.
I think it came with a choice of soup, drink and main course.
This was the seafood baked cheese rice (if I am not mistaken)

The western selection; which served both chicken and fish

Spaghetti with meat (I think it was beef)

And this, the classic dish which made my friend wait for more than 40 minutes!
Baked cheese seafood/shrimp rice
Image Hosted by PicturePush - Photo Sharing
The baked cheese was rather mushy and 'watery' that it was little like battered eggs than baked cheese.
Anyway, the shrimps were pretty fresh which made up for it.

And the Aftermath

For all the cheese baked rice, Kim Gary offers one of the wide varieties compared to the other Hongkie outlets.

A very MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you (again)~~~

All-in- ONE World

2 Celebrations and a family, where to celebrate?

Thanksgiving and Daddy's Birthday was a good reason for the family to celebrate; more over when I am back at home for the occasion as well.

Deciding on where to eat was as usual, brain-taxing but this time, we decided go for all-in-one celebration at One World (no pun intended:)

One World is indeed a hotel located strategically next to the uptown shopping mall; 1 Utama and they offer really scrumptious buffet spread for lunch.
Priced at RM65 nett per pax, it was definitely worth it for the wide variety offered.
