It would be hard to miss this blue building when one goes into the Sungai Ara neighborhood.
The name of the place already revealed their area of expertise and their offer in the selection of food you can expect.
I have been here 4 years ago, and that was the only time I came because I remembered their food being rather oily then.
However, recently, I wanted to have a rather fishy meal and this was one of the first places which came to mind.
Before you walk into the restaurant, you should be observant of the daily specials displayed on the board right in front of the entrance.
When I walked into the restaurant, I felt like I was stepping underwater; with the deep blue hues of colors enveloping the entire place; from ceilings to the walls.
Even the walls and glass windows are ornated with motifs from the sea
After being surrounded by the underwater themed interior design around me, I felt a little weird to be digging into a seafood-themed meal as well.
(Guilt was probably it =)
One can opt to order the daily special which comes with the set if you were to top up an additional RM5.90 (I think)
The set comes with a soup, a drink and dessert
Garlic bread was served shortly after our order
Soup of the day; Mushroom soup which came with the set
Orange punch which was also part of the set
One of the set offered for the day; Chicken Picata with Pasta (RM20.50)
The chicken was a little overcooked; but the pasta was not too bad.
Personally, I felt the price was a little on the high side for this; but I have to admit that the portion was rather generous as well.
Fish & Chips (RM14.90)
The chips were hidden underneath
Closer view of the fish fillet
This was quite nice; despite the fact that it was little more deep fried to my liking, but the fish fillet was full and juicy; and it was definitely not dory fish fillet.
The fish was rather fresh, and it was just full with every bite.
If you do not like fried fish fillet, grilled fish is another good option to try out.
(After all, the place is named Fisherman's Grill, right?)
Old Man by the Sea (RM16.80) is a good choice of grilled fish.
It may appear slightly oily, but the fish fillet was succulent and tender.
One that may not be recommended is this Fisherman's Delight (RM32.80)
It was mentioned in the menu that it had lobster, but unfortunately, it did not turn out to be what we had expected; with the meagre portion of lobster mixed with small portions of shrimps, crab and lobster baked with cheese and served on an oyster shell on the side.
The taste was just on the average, but to be fair, we cannot expect the whole lobster to be served with this price too *grins*
The dessert for the set was the free-flow of ice-cream; and you help yourself to whichever amount you can take.
I observed that the tables were standing on top of an old-fashioned and antique Singer sewing machine, isn't that interesting?
Overall, I feel that Fisherman's Grill is a place for great seafood meals with a Western and Oriental flair, and at a very good and reasonable prices too.
Definitely value for money and the food quality was not too bad too!~
nice place. food looks nice too =)
