The lower ground floor of 1 Utama; between the midpoint of the new and old wing is home to a few restaurants and cafes for quick bites in an oriental environment.
One of them is the Asia Cafe which seems to attract a crowd to their daily specials.

The interior was fashioned ala the old coffee shop style with the wooden tables and chairs/benches and the lamps hung from the ceiling; emitting the dim lighting to the entire shop.

They offer a nice selection of drinks; from herbal tea to simple Chinese tea to a few named local desserts.

This is the chrysanthemum with pear (RM3.50)

A rather refreshing drink in such a unique combination. I am sure it is meant for cooling effects as well.

Soursop snow; with 3 colorful blends of jelly-like sago adorning the dessert which was served with sweet soursop (RM5.90)

It was a little plain and small in serving; and there is nothing much special about this.

Swaying away from their named specialties (Sang Har Meen), this Tomyam Goong was also on their menu.

Served in spicy tomyam soup with seafood and oyster mushrooms, this blends well with the plate of white rice.

The tomyam was a little below expectation though.

Another thing worth mentioning was the fact that this restaurant/cafe was pretty slow in serving.
The deep-fried salted calamari which was ordered as the appetizer came in after the main course.

The taste was rather unappetizing as well.

I am not sure whether I will pay another visit though; as this is only my first visit and I did not try their special Sang Har Meen which they boasted in their main menu.
Perhaps another time...any thoughts from the rest of you?

had the tomyam set meal once, it was so so. had the chicken chop too, i think it is better than the tomyam. only ate there twice, like nothing significant there tht really attracts me
