Roti Babi from Gurney Drive's Song River
Mummy and Daddy said it's nice; just smaller in portion compared to other places in Penang. No comments from me (not a meat eater)
Famous Duck from Lunas
Pasembur or Cheh Hu(Raw fish in Hokkien) from Batu Lanchang new market (RM3.50)
This is one of the more famous place for this dish:)
Popiah from Batu Lanchang market; the "wet" type of popiah soaked with gravy
Costs about RM1.40 per piece
Otak otak from Song River (RM2)
Reasonably priced but too little fish in this. However, Mummy commented the taste of this otak otak was not bad.
Lobak from Song River
Not really good....in fact, it's not even authentic, the loh bak was only served with chilli sauce and no gravy (Loh).
Weird! When daddy asked for Loh, the lady said, No gravy for this, it's only served with chilli sauce.
HUH?? Then why is it called Loh Bak?? Pirated version:S
Char Koay Teow from Song River (RM3)
On the average only; commented by Mummy
Stir-fried Kai Lan from Song River (RM6)
Good, tasty and crunchy:)
Jelutong area is also occupied with hawker stalls and crowd at night
Mung Bean dessert (Lek Tau Th'ng) (RM1.20)
See Ko Th'ng (RM1.50)
Too dark yeah:p
It was not bad, lots of stuffs; only lacking of lotus seeds (my fave):p
Another interesting place is the Pulau Tikus market; which also turns into a hawker fare event from 6pm onwards.
Lok lok is pretty famous here; but this round we didn't have the mood for Lok Lok and instead tried others.
Leng Chee Kang (RM1.70)
On the average only; but I liked the sea coconut in it:)
Plain popiah from the Pulau Tikus market (RM1 per piece)
Just simple ol' popiah; with normal lettuce, mengkuang and tofu. No seafood whatsoever, that's why it's only priced at this price.
Fish Head Beehoon (RM3)
Not really nice; the fish were too soggy and coarse...:S
Really disappointed...
For nice variety and good price of hawker fare, the market in Cecil street is pretty famous as well (in the day)
Lam Mee (RM2.80)
Daddy's favorite Lam Mee in Penang...it's his must-have
Nice drink on a hot day; Wheatgrass juice for RM1
Did I mention Penang was really hot recently?
In fact, I caught the sick virus from Penang....sighs:(
Anyway, it's starting to dampen a little with a bit of rain these days....
Stay tune for more Penang food posts....
