Fish Head Beehoon

The wet market in Kepong Baru is one of the busiest in the district; particularly during the weekends due to the variety offered to the busy working women and housewives alike to do their marketing.
Besides, raw vegetables, meat, seafood and fruits, there are also various hawker food stalls and coffeeshops in the market to feed the growling stomachs after a busy morning of marketing.
This particular coffeeshop is located at the corner; behind the Mobil petrol station.
The first stall sells fish head beehoon; cooked in milk (as practised in most fish head beehoon cooking style here in KL)

Ordering a bowl of fish head beehoon is based on the headcount per order.

Their servings are huge!
Or rather, as my dad was quoted; it was more of the large bowls used for serving the food:)

The serving of the beehoon and fish chunks are in abundance!

For a serving of 2 pax, it costs RM10 for this whole bowl

Not too milky nor too oily; it is not bad to start off with the day.

Dragon-i @ 1 Utama

Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Dragon-i is one of the more prominent Chinese restaurants around; well known for its Shanghainese style of cuisine.
In fact, it has been one of the favorite places among floggers and I've read so many reviews about this place that I find it rather intriguing to find out the whole excitement when I was in their 1 Utama outlet.

There is this hallway leading into the restaurant which was lined up with these figures of terracota statues.

Their watercress with longan was a sweet and refreshing drink which quenches thirst (RM4)
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
The drink came with longans, winter melons, red dates and water cress.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

The fish fillets was fried with long beans (RM16).
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
The fillets were deep fried before coating with the thick sauce which tasted of soy sauce and fermented soy beans.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
It was not too bad; although occasionally the strong taste of the sauce was a little salty and it was slightly on the oily side.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

Seafood with beancurd was cooked in a claypot (RM14)
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
This dish was filling due to the amount of beancurds and the fish fillets, shrimps, squids which was included in the claypot to add taste to the beancurd.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

One of Dragon-i's specialty is the Siew Long Bau (Little Dragon buns) which is unique in the aspect of the bun holding the stock within the meat pastry.
Besides the meat-filled bun, we chose another unique variation which was the buns filled with red bean paste.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
It had a rather thin layer wrapping the red bean paste which defines the bun and the paste was really full to the seams.
In fact, I found the sweetness of the paste rather overwhelming for myself as I don't have that sweet tooth.

All in all, Dragon-i certainly was not a bad choice for meals despite it serving the conventional Chinese/Shanghainese dishes.

House of Pancakes

Yet another House of Pancakes found in Sunway Pyramid; in the old wing which offers a fusion of Filipino cuisine and pancakes.
The House of Pancakes originated from the Philippines and was tastefully decorated in a tangerine theme and emanating a sense of bright orangey feel which says "Welcome"

The Filipino style of ABC ~ Halo Halo (Shaved ice with milk, jelly and fruits)
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
It tasted rather sweet and overall on the average side; not really as interesting as it sounds.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
This is the small serving; RM4.50
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com

Of course, walking into a house of pancakes without ordering pancake will not do them justice.
They offer a short list of common pancakes; ranging from plain to fruity pancakes (or so it sounds).
The peach pancake - small serving for Rm10.90
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
As indicated, only the name makes it sound peachy but in fact, it is just a plain pancake with 4 slices of peach and whipped cream on top of it; served with honey.
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
I find it really intriguing that they named this Peach pancake when there is nothing special except putting the fruits on top of it.
I think they need to refurbish their menu; for instance: Pancakes served with Options (A-Z)
SIGHS!

One of the mains; Salmon Fillet
Hosted by RockYouPhotos.com
Thinking it was just served in western style, I was really surprised when it came with an extra serving of rice and the salmon fillet was just a side serving.
For RM16, I don't think this is worth it:(
Furthermore, the salmon fillet somehow tasted weird in the mouth.

When the waitress came over to collect the plates and handed the bill, she courteously asked me about my opinion of the food.
I was ..."ERMMMMM....."

*Think this is just not my cup of tea....shall stick with Paddington House of Pancakes*

Really wonderful lunch buffet!
I totally enjoyed it....the funniest was when the instructor told us to "whack everything we see" on the 2nd day; which was also the last day of our training:)

I found out that the cost of this buffet is ~RM70++ per pax; but not really sure...anyone here who knows?
